Fenestraz wins Formula Renault 2.0 EUROCUP 2017

   
   

Free practice: In the free practice sessions the Kaufmann Drivers as usual showed a strong pace. Fenestraz was once fastest and once P2. Ye was on P10 and P16. Leeds was on P24 in both sessions.

Qualifying: The first Qualifying on Saturday morning saw Fenestraz on P3, Ye on P15 and Leeds on P23. For the final event this year all 32 drivers qualified in the same group.

Grid for Race 1: Fenestraz on P3 - Ye P15 - Leeds P23.

The second Qualifying session was held after the first Race on Saturday evening and was counting for the 2 final races. Fenestraz qualified on P2 and P1, Ye both times on P9 and Leeds on 26 and P24.

Race 1: On Saturday noon the first race took place. Leeds had a few difficulties in the first lap and dropped back to the end of the field. He finished on P30. Ye was able to improve some positions and finished on P12. Fenestraz lost a position at the start and stayed on P4 the whole race to take important points for the Championship.

Race 2: On Sunday morning the second race was started. A massive crash invloving more than 10 cars in the first corner brought a red flag. Leeds was unfortunately involved. After the re-start Ye lost one position on finished on P10. Fenestraz kept his position on P2 and just drove a solid race to take another podium and secure the 2017 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup Title.

Race 3: On Sunday afternoon Leeds drove a normal race and finished on P23. Ye was involved in some mid field overtaking and unfortunately lost positions to finish on P11. Fenestraz in the lead was able to keep his position and lead the field also after a Safety Car re-start. In a dominant way Fenestraz took another lights to flag victory, win number 7 of the season, to finish the season in style!

The young franco argentinian Sacha Fenestraz was the most dominant driver of the year and won the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup 2017 with a record of 9 Pole Positions, 7 Victories and 17 Podiums - an outstanding performance!
